We are delighted to share the news that Callum Lee, a 19-year-old student from Millau, France, has completed a two-month-long work placement period at CJ Timms Electrical.
A Bit About Callum
Callum is pursuing his studies in International Marketing at Louise Michel School in Narbonne. As part of his curriculum, Callum needed to gain real-life work experience abroad to validate his first year. “Thanks to the kindness of Roger and Russ, I was able to work alongside them for these 2 months abroad!”.
Callum’s Contributions at CJ Timms
During his time with us, Callum has been involved in pitching a significant side project to us. He has developed a business project proposal focused on launching an e-commerce website for CJ Timms. This initiative aims to provide the company with a new source of revenue and could expand our online presence into an untapped market. Callum said, “For this, I am working on an in-depth analysis of the e-commerce market, measuring the benefits, the risks, the competition already present on the market, etc…”. Callum’s innovative ideas and thorough research have been invaluable, and we’ve loved hearing his ideas and insights.
What Callum Loved About CJ Timms
When asked about what his favourite thing about working with CJ Timms was, Callum answered, “I love CJ Timms for their friendly and professional way of working, they are not as exigent compared to how a big company would proceed. By being a small team, everybody keeps their heads up for the others and do not pressure one and each other. I find CJ Timms a great company to work in, while working a lot they still make time to talk, to understand, to explain any problems that occur.”.
Learning and Growth
Despite not having a background in electrical work, Callum gained a considerable understanding of the “electricity world” thanks to Roger’s guidance. “Thanks to Roger, I now have a greater understanding of all of it, every time I was interested in something Roger was always there to explain to me how it worked and gave me examples to make it easier for me. Roger could be a great teacher!”.
This work placement allowed Callum the opportunity to put into practice all of the practical work that he learnt during his first year at college and he admitted that it was all “a lot more complicated” than he first thought! So, a fantastic opportunity for him to experience the real-life complexities of business operations.
Thank you, Callum!
Roger Timms, managing director of CJ Timms said, “Having Callum at CJ Timms for 2 months was a pleasure, he fit straight into our team and showed interest and understanding of our offerings. During his time with us we gained some insights into international business and the possibilities of ecommerce we wouldn’t have considered. We wish Callum the best of luck in gaining his qualification and his future endeavours.”
As we bid farewell to Callum, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for his contributions. His time with us has been mutually beneficial, providing him with valuable hands-on experience while offering us new insights and energy. We are confident that Callum has a bright future ahead and wish him all the best in his studies and career.
